Last Thursday we had a fun activity after school during our book fair for adults to come with their students to look through the fair and enjoy some stories and a donut with their loved ones. We had a lot of families come out and really appreciate the support from the community. A HUGE thank you goes out to the PTA who runs our book fairs every year and was an integral part of our event.
Mrs. Brockbank is our new 4th grade teacher. This is her second year teaching, and her first here at Goshen School. She lives in Spanish Fork with her husband. She was born and raised in Ohio and is the oldest of 4 children.
During her free time, she likes to play golf with her husband, bake and binge crime shows on television. She also likes crafts, but especially paper crafts and digital art.
A couple of things that you might not know about Mrs. Brockbank is that she has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and she knows American Sign Language.
This week we are going to meet one of our amazing 3rd grade teachers, Mrs. Barber. Mrs. Barber has taught 3rd grade at our school for 7 years. She lives in Payson with her family. She is married and has 3 children, Cameron who is in 9th grade, Lydia who is in 7th grade, and of course Grady who is in 3rd grade, and is in his mom's class this year! Mrs. Barber grew up in a pretty big family. There were SIX kids in her family!
This Thursday, November 18th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the school will be hosting "Grandparents and Goodies". This is an opportunity for grandparents to bring their grandchildren to the school to listen to books being read, have a donut and visit the book fair. It's important for the adults in children's lives to show them how important reading is, and this is a great time to do that!
This week we will be having our Book Fair at school. It will be open before school (8:30-9:15) and during lunch (11:30-12:30) on the stage. The PTA is looking for some parent helpers to help during these times. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here. The Book Fair is a great way to support our school, while showing your students how important reading is. With the holidays just around the corner, books make great gifts!
Mrs. Openshaw's class learned about Dia de los Muertos during the month of October, and then on November 1st & 2nd, celebrated the holiday by putting together an ofrenda. Students were allowed to bring a picture of a loved one to be displayed on their class ofrenda, and enjoyed telling their classmates about the person in their picture. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about another culture, and the way they celebrate their loved ones.
This month, the 4th grade's art is being displayed in our art gallery. Both Mrs. Norton and Mrs. Brockbank's classes learned about art based on Tim Burton's style, and then they were tasked with making a self portrait drawn with black and white colored pencil, in Mr. Burton's style.

As the pandemic’s unseen costs begin to unfold on the mental health front, some wonder how school children will be impacted. Despite the massive challenge we face, there are growing resources to help families who are struggling.
Virtual Family Mental Health Night–Talk to a Therapist Nebo School District is partnering with The Cook Center for Human Connection to host a free virtual Family Mental Health night on November3, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Participants will hear from a leading clinical psychologist, be able to ask questions, and learn about free resources available.
Mrs. Black is our awesome art teacher. She has been the art teacher at Goshen School for 4 years. She lives in Genola with her husband, and they have 7 kids. She is also a grandma to 2 little boys.
Mrs. Black loves art (of course!), gardening and reading. Something else that she likes to do in her spare time is hiking in Utah's beautiful mountains.
We are so glad that Mrs. Black is a part of our school, and is here to help the kids with art!
