Last year Goshen Elementary received $24,847.00 from the State Lands Trust.  Our School Community Council helped to identify four goals for our school to improve student learning.  The goals are:

  1. Goshen Elementary will increase the number of students reading at or above grade level with an emphasis on third grade by May 29, 2016.
  2. Goshen Elementary will increase the Math proficiency levels for all students by 2% by May 29, 2016.
  3. Goshen Elementary will increase 4th - 6th grade student's science knowledge and abilities by 2% on SAGE Science test by May 29, 2016.
  4. Goshen Elementary will implement the Utah State Fine Arts Core into every grade level by May 29, 2016.

The money was used to pay salaries for two technicians that provided reading and math tutoring.  This included working with whole class, small groups and individual students.  Imagine Learning, a literacy software program was also used to help improve reading.

Substitutes were provided for teachers to review language arts, math and fine art curriculum maps.  These were used to guide instruction in each classroom.  Teachers were sent to art conferences to help implement art in the classrooms.  Our librarian was sent to a literature conference.  She then purchased library books for our students.  She also created book talks to create enthusiasm for reading in our students.

Chrome books and classroom projectors were purchased for classroom use.

I appreciate the support of our School Community Council.  They are concerned about all of our students and their academic success.
