Goshen's October Citizens of the Month

Goshen Elementary's citizens of the month for October were Delaney Steele, Keelee Bingham, Steven Ward, Hannah Hazelet, Melody Kenison, Audrey Peterson, Oscar Carreno, Alyssa Zohner, Layne Shepherd, Tate Strasburg, Weston Thomas, Gentry Conklin, Kayden Walters, Joseline Macedo, Josie Penrod, Jose Gomez, Blake Bagley, Dawsen Tew, Kennedy Cowan, and Sydney Hacking.  These students were chosen by their teachers for showing October's theme of honesty.

Road to Success Reading Awards given at Goshen!

Keelee Bingham, of Elberta who is a kindergarten student at Goshen Elementary School, had her name drawn out of a box containing names of all of the students who have been reading this last quarter at school. Keelee is pictured with her teacher, Mrs. Lori Staheli, along with her prize: a color TV and VCR. Also winning a prize, but is not pictured, was Devin Johnson, of Genola who is a fifth grade student in Mr. Travis Proctor's class, who won a gift certificate for a new bicycle from WalMart.

Author Visits Goshen

Students at Goshen Elementary were excited to have author, Stephen Gashler, visit their school.  He got students interested in his book, The Bent Sword, by bringing in some of the characters and showing students the importance of reading.  He had the students laughing at his jokes and excited to read and not just watch TV all day.  Some students were even lucky enough to purchase a book and have Mr. Gashler sign it.

Goshen's September Students of the Month

Goshen Elementary students of the month for September were Neut Kunz, Amity Cowan, Kimberly Green, Lacie Waters, Kache Davis, Brinley Cottam, Hector Ramirez, Ruby Morales, Davis Carter, Aspyn Bagley, Cambria Parkin, Leo Montgomery, Michael Green, Emma Lundell, Lydia Lundell, Chelise Tromble, Briana Okelberry, Hadlie Carter, Sidney Burrell, Bridget Lott, and Nathan Prestwich.  Each teacher chose the student in their class that showed this month's theme which was caring.

Celebrating Place Value

First graders in Mrs. Hilary Dyreng's class at Goshen Elementary celebrated the 30th day of school! Eric Jacobsen, Dillon Ewell, Sky Simmons, Gus Carter, Kaylyn Eastwood, Scarlett Penrod, Brylee Oldroyd, and Reagan Black are wearing their tie-dye shirts they made on the 20th day of school. Mrs. Dyreng's class looks forward to every 10th day of school to celebrate ZERO HERO to help them understand place value. They are already counting down to day 100!

The fifth graders at Goshen Elementary received a grant from Utah Valley University to go see the play, Wiley and the Hairy Man.  Students enjoyed the production and were able to practice their writing skills as they wrote thank you letters to Utah Valley University.

Goshen Elementary wants to thank Grandma Chatwin for all of her time she gives to students to help them succeed. Grandma Chatwin was recognized at a banquet and received a plaque for serving 20 years as a volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program. All of those years were as a volunteer at Goshen Elementary in the kindergarten classes.

Goshen's School Spirit Winners

The students in Mr. Jason Dickie's second grade class were picked for the second time this year as the winner of the Goshen Elementary School spirit contest. The contest is judged on the percentage of students wearing the school colors of gold (yellow) and blue. The second graders are holding up two fingers to show how many times they have won the contest this year.
