Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Submitted by krista.openshaw on

In celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, Goshen students dressed up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.  We had lots of Cat in the Hats, some Things One and Twos and even some Cindy Lou Whos.  Mrs. DeGraffenried even came to school as the Cat in the Hat.  Some of our classes made Cat in the Hat masks, made their own Sneetch, and played pin the heart on The Grinch.  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!  Thank you for all of the imagination building stories you gave us!

Goshen's annual Education Fair is on the horizon.  This is a great opportunity for our students to learn about different topics that interest them.  There are four categories in which they can enter; math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.  Students may choose as many of the categories as they would like to participate in.  The Language Arts enteries are due on March 21st, and all other enteries are due on the day of the Education Fair, March 30.

Half Day Wednesday

Submitted by krista.openshaw on

Because of District Training, school will be let out at NOON on Wednesday (Feb. 24).  School lunch will be served an hour earlier than normal.  Students don't have to order lunch that day if you would like them to just eat at home after school, but if they DO order a lunch, they will be required to pay for it.  They can't order one and then decide at lunchtime that they don't want it.  Please make arrangements to have your children picked up after school if they don't ride a bus or walk.  If you have any questions, feel free to call us at the school.

Goshen's annual Kindy 500 will be happening on Wednesday (Feb. 24).  The Kindergarten students have been hard at work making their own box cars and will be doing their parade around the halls of the school right after announcements on Wednesday morning.  Afterwards, they will get to learn all about US history during some fun rotations and activities. ALL Kindergarten students, whether AM or PM will come on the morning busses and will be picked up at noon in the afternoon.

Box Top Wars will be starting on Monday, February 22 and will end on Friday, February 26.  Send all of your Box Tops to school and turn them into the office and at the end of the week, the class with the most earned will get a prize!  To help Mrs. Oberg and Mrs. Robinson count them up, you can send them in increments of 25 or 50 per bag (if you do this, please indicate how many are in each bag), or you can pick up a collection page at the office and TAPE your box tops to it before bringing them in (If you do it this way, please use tape ONLY, no glue or staples).

Author Visits Gohshen

The 4th-6th grade students were excited to hear from teenage author McKenzie Wagner last week.  She came and talked with them about following their dreams and never giving up.  Students were able to submit a short story in the weeks leading up to her visit and some were chosen to eat lunch and visit with McKenzie before the assembly.  During the assembly the students participated in a fun contest and 6th Grader Carlisle Brownfield won a copy of her newest book "Casters of Doovrik"
