We went on our annual Apple Crunch field trip today at Fower's Fruit Ranch. We learned all about the different bugs and how spiders are helpful in an Orchard. We learned about how they keep the trees healthy and how they identify trees that are sick. We were able to see the processing plant and how it works, from apples just leaving the tree to being boxed up or bagged to sell. Then we were treated to a story about apple orchards and we learned the importance of keeping the land healthy.
The kindergarteners went to Jaker’s for their field trip! They had SO much fun! The students were well behaved and represented Goshen by wearing their school shirts. Mrs. Peterson and Ms. Adams even played in the corn pit! We appreciate all the parents who were able to go with us.
It looks like Mr. Atkin would like to try his hand at driving bus! While one of the bus drivers ran into the school for a minute, he jumped on and thought he would give it a go! We love that Mr. Atkin loves to be a jokester and isn't afraid to have a little bit of fun!
Don't forget that there is no school October 13th, 14th and 17th for Fall Break. Have a fun and safe break!
The 5th grade classes have art displayed in the front hall for the month of October. Mrs. Haines' class used watercolor to paint pumpkins on a farm, and Mrs. Openshaw's class used watercolor and construction paper to make haunted houses.
On Monday, Goshen Elementary, our PTA and Goshen City hosted a health and safety fair for the surrounding communities. During school, the students were able to visit with and see some of our first responders in action. The highlight was being able to watch the U of U AirMed helicopter do a flyover and land in our back field. The kids were able to learn about K9 officers, the SWAT team, Animal Control, Search and Rescue, CSI, Mobile Command and 911.
We celebrated Mr. Carter on Wednesday during National Custodian Day. Our school wouldn't run without Mr. Carter and the rest of our custodial staff. They do so many things for the school and our students. We just want to give them all a shout-out and say THANK YOU!!!
