Goshen School students spent their recess time  jump roping, to better prepare for the contest at the end of the week.  It was exciting to see how long the class winners could jump! The winners of the grade level jump roping contest are pictured.

Thank you,  Mrs. Savage our PTA Health and Safety representative for planning a fun week. Also, Intermountain Health Care for the free jump ropes and Fowers Fruit Farm for the free apples.

During the week of February 23-27, the PTA at Goshen School has been busy teaching the students about being health and safe. The kick-off assembly included healthy tips and a fun visit from the Utah County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. Students and teachers enjoyed watching the dogs sniff-out drugs and attack the K-9 officer with the specially padded suit on. The K-9 Officers explained their extensive training with the dogs and answered the many questions that the students had about the dogs.

To help celebrate the 100th day of school, the students came dressed up to look like centurions in the year 3008! The 1st grade classrooms and hallways were crowded with walkers, wheel chairs and many walking canes to help the students move along slowly during their school day.  We had many fun 100 day activities and the teachers said that looked and felt like they were 100 years old!

How the West Was Won Assembly

It was a pleasure to welcome Marcia Knorr to Goshen School.  She presented an assembly called,  "How the West Was Won" for the students and teachers. Through narration and song, she taught us how music played an important part in the history and development of our country.  Using our imaginations we crossed the wild prairies, panned for gold, built a railroad, fought in the Civil War and even shared song and music from an old fashioned barn dance.  The assembly was sponsored by ARTS, Inc. and the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts and the Parks.
