Box Top Wars happening next week!

Submitted by krista.openshaw on

Box Top Wars will be starting on Monday, February 22 and will end on Friday, February 26.  Send all of your Box Tops to school and turn them into the office and at the end of the week, the class with the most earned will get a prize!  To help Mrs. Oberg and Mrs. Robinson count them up, you can send them in increments of 25 or 50 per bag (if you do this, please indicate how many are in each bag), or you can pick up a collection page at the office and TAPE your box tops to it before bringing them in (If you do it this way, please use tape ONLY, no glue or staples).

The 4th-6th grade students were excited to hear from teenage author McKenzie Wagner last week.  She came and talked with them about following their dreams and never giving up.  Students were able to submit a short story in the weeks leading up to her visit and some were chosen to eat lunch and visit with McKenzie before the assembly.  During the assembly the students participated in a fun contest and 6th Grader Carlisle Brownfield won a copy of her newest book "Casters of Doovrik"

Reading Carnival

Submitted by krista.openshaw on

Last week the students were rewarded for their at home reading by attending a reading carnival held in the gym.  Throughout the first semester, they were given tickets when they completed their mandatory reading minutes every week.  They were able to take these tickets and use them to buy books, school supplies and they were able to play games and win prizes with them.  Fun was had by all.  We will be having another carnival in the spring before school is out, so please make sure your students are handing in their reading minutes every week to earn those tickets!

Goshen Welcomes McKenzie Wagner

We have a great opportunity to be visited by a local teenage author, McKenzie Wagner.  She is only 15 years old and already has 4 published novels.  She will be visiting our school on Friday (Jan. 29) and will be visiting with our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade sudents about herself and her writing.  We are so excited to meet her and hear about her successes.  Each teacher has copies of her books if you or your student would like to read them.
