Carrie Norton was nominated and voted by her colleagues to be 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year.  She teaches 4th grade and has been at Goshen Elementary for 8 years.  When asked why Mrs. Norton received this honor, Mrs. DeGraffenried, our pricipal stated:

"Carrie persistently reflects on how to improve not only her ability to teach, but how to help her students advance their academic pursuits.  Her passion for learning and teaching is evident in everything she does.  She is always asking the question, “What is best for my students?”  She is thoughtful in her preparation for any subject."

When parents of her students were asked to tell us something about her, they only sang praises.

One parent said that “Mrs. Norton has been such a role model for my daughter. Her good attitude and ability to connect with her students show through my daughter’s attitude.  Her teaching is very hands on and enthusiastic.”

Another parent shared, “When my son entered her classroom, he had no drive to be the best - no real desire to read, or to ace his math.  Not only did Mrs. Norton see his potential, she was able to make HIM see his potential and that made all the difference.”

A mother shared, “Carrie Norton is always positive. I have never heard her complain about not having resources to teach with, but instead she uses her creativity and resourcefulness to form a class which almost every one of the students says is their favorite class. She stays upbeat and positive while encouraging her students to participate and better themselves.”

We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Norton teaching at Goshen Elementary.  She's always willing to share ideas, and she truly cares about her students and their well being.
